Yael is a gifted Israeli girl living with her Ima and Abba in Brooklyn. Although she is an honor student soaring to academic achievement never seen before in her high school, she is troubled by loneliness for she is an only child.
Always being pushed to excel by her parents and teachers, no one recognized that she was becoming more lonely and in need of love and companionship. Hiding her cigarette smoking turned into hiding her drug intake.
She wanted more love than what she was getting at home. Even in school, her classmates just saw a girl that had all the answers. Her best friend who was her study partner sensed that Yael was incapable to date a boy for she didn't know how to show her love to someone else. Bat Sheva, her best friend, would steal dates from Yael right under her nose. It was like taking candy from a baby.
Yael couldn't go to school anymore for her drugs led her to places that offered attention and the appearance of happiness as shallow as it was.
