Premise: A beautiful, Jewish, religious bride is trying to keep her marriage pure when others have romantic desires on her and her husband.
MODERN lIFE takes us to Philadelphia, Pa. Libby is entering her apartment hands full of groceries and Moshe is accusing her of spending too much money. Libby knows that she's a careful shopper and Moshe explains to her that they are broke and all of their money, including her earnings before they were married, was lost when his start up company went bust.
The next morning when the electricity was turned off in their apartment, Libby went to her old boss, Rick, a caterer, and asked for her old job back. Rick informed her that he is in a new line of work; he is an owner of a gambling casino. Rick offered Libby a lucrative position in the casino, working as a card dealer at a high end table and she takes it instantly making bundles of money; Rick has romantic feelings for Libby.
Libby is working nights so Moshe is all alone and Libby's sister, Adina, has designs on Moshe. She is bringing him food and offering much more. Adina gets drunk one night and pushed herself on Moshe. Nothing happened but she was too drunk to realize that he rejected her. She doesn't stop pursuing him.
